Inaugural World MRSA Day October 1, 2009
The first inaugural and official event for World MRSA DAY took place on October 1, 2009 at Loyola University Chicago with great success. The event started with an international press conference and then followed with the Remembrance Ceremony.
The event raised awareness and MRSA survivors and family members of MRSA victims told their personal stories. Leading MRSA experts revealed stunning data that showed MRSA is at epidemic and pandemic levels across the globe.
MRSA Activists called for a greater government, healthcare industry and community response to the MRSA epidemic – pandemic as MRSA sweeps across the globe.
WORLD MRSA DAY and MRSA AWARNESS MONTH will provide a much needed opportunity to heighten awareness of how MRSA is transmitted and also acknowledge that there is no cure or vaccine for this preventable, mostly un-reportable disease in which the true magnitude of the epidemic is still unknown and vastly under reported.
