Singapore Pools (Private) Limited, better known as singapore pools, is the state-owned gaming company that runs lotteries and sports betting in Singapore. It is a subsidiary of the Tote Board, which reports to the Ministry of Finance in the Government of Singapore. It is the only legal bookmaker and totalisator for association football, motor racing, horse racing, and 4D games in the country.
In the past 50 years, Singapore Pools has played a vital role in helping to shape the nation’s responsible gambling scene. Its founding vision was to provide those who gamble with a safe and trusted environment, so that the profits can be channelled back into supporting the community through charities, rather than lining the pockets of illegal syndicates.
Today, the organisation has more than 1,200 outlets nationwide. They offer customers a variety of betting products, including Toto, the 6-out-of-49 state lottery game that was first launched in 1968. Other popular products include the Singapore Sweep, a seven-digit sweepstake that draws on the same day each month, and 4D, which was introduced in May 1986.
The company has also been instrumental in promoting responsible gambling, working with the National Crime Prevention Council to dovetail their messaging into anti-illegal gambling campaigns, and offering support for problem gamblers. They have also been recognised by the World Lottery Association with a Level 4 Responsible Gaming Framework certification in 2012.
With a mission to be “A Company for Good”, Singapore Pools is committed to using its resources and technology capital to benefit society. In 2018, they established iShine Cloud, a non-profit IT social enterprise that provides other charities with a suite of charity-specific solutions via a secure cloud-based IT platform at a subsidised rate.
To ensure that they can communicate their messages to their staff and customers in a consistent way across all their locations, Singapore Pools relied on digital signage. They deploy PADS4 in all their venues and branches, with over 450 displays centrally managed from a single location. The system uses XML data connections to display event messages, realtime lottery and betting results, as well as responsible gaming content.
To make the most of their investment in PADS4, Singapore Pools used a partner that specialises in end-to-end next generation solutions for IPTV and digital signage. The partnership enabled them to implement a centralised management approach and create a consistent user experience for their staff and customers. As a result, they have been able to drive greater efficiencies and scale their operations. They have also accelerated their digital transformation journey and have achieved significant business benefits. These include improved productivity and governance, as well as enhanced security and compliance for their IT systems.
