What is the Hongkong Prize?

The hongkong prize is a prestigious writing competition that recognizes authors from all around the region. Winners are rewarded with monetary prizes and book vouchers, as well as the opportunity to showcase their talent at an awards ceremony. However, it’s important to be aware of the rules and regulations before submitting your entry. This will help you avoid costly mistakes that could jeopardize your chances of winning.

The award is named after the late Norwegian-born US philanthropist Fred Kavli, who gave more than $200 million to support research into astrophysics, nanoscience and neuroscience. Applicants are encouraged to apply their research results for the benefit of humanity and society at large, with an emphasis on scientific and technological innovation that reaches beyond traditional academic boundaries.

A panel of independent experts will make the final decision on the winners. The selection process is free from sponsorship and personal interests, with past winners including journalists who expose human rights abuses, activists fighting for democracy in their countries and social justice and community service workers empowering marginalized communities.

This is the second year that the award has been given out, and this year’s shortlist includes nine artists from Hong Kong. This is the highest number of Hong Kong artists to ever be nominated for the prize, and it’s a sign of the city’s growing international influence.

Those interested in applying for the prize should visit the World of Winners splash page beginning March 1 to learn more about how to enter. Southeast Asian residents will receive priority over mainland Chinese applicants, and international applications will be considered after that. The judging panel will be composed of experts from various fields, and the winner will receive a trip to Hong Kong to attend the prize ceremony.

In addition to a cash prize, the winners will also get a chance to meet with the academy’s board of directors and discuss their research findings with scientists from across Asia. They will also be able to participate in the BOCHK SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION PRIZE Symposium, where they will be able to network with their peers and showcase their work.

The BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize was established in 2022 by the Hong Kong Alliance of Technology and Innovation, with title sponsorship from the Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited. Its charter is designed to promote scientific and standardized management of the prize, and it sets out guidelines for the Review Committee, Compliance Oversight Team and Secretariat to follow. The Board is responsible for reviewing and interpreting the charter, suggesting important scientific research fields for THE PRIZE, appointing members of the Review Committee, and setting requirements for nominating experts. It is also responsible for verifying and approving the final review results. This will ensure that the HK Prize is an objective and fair award.
